Devon Peña is Professor of American Ethnic Studies, Anthropology, and Program on the Environment, University of Washington. Founder and President of The Acequia Institute. Acequia farmer in San Acacio, Colorado with water rights on the historic San Luis Peoples Ditch, which was constructed in 1852. Author of several award winning books and anthologies including the forthcoming, Water Voices: Four Hundred Years of Acequia Farming in the Upper Ro Grande Bioregion, 1598-1998 (University of Arizona Press, Autumn 2013) and The Last Common: Endangered Lands and Disappeared People in the Politics of Place (University of Arizona Press, Autumn 2013). Peña was the recipient of the 2013 NACCS Scholar Award from the National Association for Chicana and Chicano Studies.
